“How to Create a High Performing HR Team”
I have developed this 1 day session to guide you through the actual steps you can take to create a High Performing Team. Delivered virtually, LIVE by me across 2 half day sessions. There are a tonne of models out there and lots of theory but it can be hard knowing exactly what do to create an amazing team. In my 15 years in HR I have been part of High Performing Teams in global businesses and I have built a HR function from scratch and developed it into a highly valued and respected High Performing Team (and I know this was the case because of feedback we received!) Let me share my insights with you to help your own team!

My name is Claire Cathcart and over the last 15 years I have been crafting my HR career. Starting as a HR Administrator in a male-dominated Security industry I learnt a lot about Employee Relations. Then relocating to be closer to family and starting a role in a much larger organisation working in a shared service environment where the ER case load increased significantly. With a couple of years HR Advisory experience under my belt I secured a role at TUI UK & Ireland as HR Advisor for their South West Retail Division.
It was whilst working at TUI that I decided that I wanted to become a HR Director. To get to that point I knew that I needed to work hard, identify my gaps, continue learning and get experience in all aspects of the people journey.
I had been a generalist for a number of years and knew that there lay my passion. I had little interest in specialising in a particular area of HR. The next step was for me to work towards becoming a HR Business Partner. My line manager at the time was a huge support. She was a coach and a mentor. She answered all my questions and gave me opportunities to get involved in things outside my day job.
I wanted to earn more money. Working for a travel company only fueled my desire to travel around the world and make memories that would last a lifetime. I knew that earning more money would allow me to fulfil those dreams. Becoming a HR Business Partner for a global business was not going to be easy, there were plenty of other people that wanted to take the next role so I had to work hard and be focused on my goal.
It didn’t take long before I was offered a HR Business Partner role in the Airline, partnering with the Customer Services Director and supporting a population of a few thousand people. Becoming a mother in 2015 I decided that I wanted to relocate with my family to live a life by the south coast. Something I had thought about for a long time. I secured a role as HR Business Partner Manager working for EDF Energy. Whilst working there I was head hunted to set up a brand new HR function for a scaling business, which was an opportunity for me to put everything I’d learnt across my career into practice. In more recent years I have worked for starts up and scaling businesses across a range of industries. My passion will always lie in HR and my desire for this course is to provide you with practical actions you can take to progress in your role and your career.
